Fiona Short, Architect

Hi, I’m Fiona. I’m an Registered Architect with 13 years experience in the New Zealand architectural industry.

I have worked in Christchurch for 12 years following the 2011 earthquake. During this time I worked with Warren and Mahoney Architects as a Project Architect, as the Group Lead of Sustainability for New Zealand and Australia and eventually as a Principal.

Over this time I have worked on a large range of typologies, throughout New Zealand and Australia,  including bespoke residential designs, multi-residential housing, commercial, education and civic projects.  My first project in the role as Project Architect was awarded an NZIA New Zealand Architecture Award in 2017.

As an architectural sustainability specialist, I am passionate about design solutions that maximise the positive impacts for communities and the environment, all within the unique constraints of each project brief and site. My experience spans across Green Star, Homestar, The Living Building Challenge, Zero Carbon Certification and Zero Energy certifications. There is no ‘one size fits all’ approach for sustainability and I will work with you to tailor a balanced approach for your project.
